About this game

BPM: Bullets Per Minute is a roguelike first-person shooter inspired by Norse mythology, in which the player can only fire, reload, and use special abilities to the rhythm of the game's metal soundtrack.

The player takes the role of one of the selectable valkyries and is first tasked with defending Asgard from invading enemies, and then gradually taking the fight to them in Helheim.

While the individual rooms and dungeons within a certain zone are randomly arranged, the zone order and the assigned level bosses remain the same.

Bosses also have rhythmic patterns that the player must recognize and exploit.

New weapons, abilities and powerups can be uncovered by either unlocking an encountered chest or altar, or by visiting the armory and item shop.

New characters (5 at launch, 10 after major updates) are unlocked by completing challenges (either by clearing a zone for the first time or reaching a certain milestone), with each character having different statistics and/or gameplay differences; the player starts only with Göll who is well-balanced but lacks particular specialties, while some examples of the unlockable characters are Njord who is restricted only to using his magic hands as a weapon, Odr who has unique flying capabilities but dies from a single shot, Rún who starts with statistics randomized every time she is selected, and more.

As a single run in the game is relatively short, the game is intended to be replayed multiple times to unlock said characters and utilize a different gameplay method with each one.

The game's crosshair also acts as a metronome.

For players who are unable to follow the beat, the game offers an optional toggle for an automatic rhythm correction.
