About this game

As the pilot of an interstellar starship, your mission is to destroy all enemy spacecraft on the galactic chart and prevent them from destroying your starbases.

There are three different types of fighters roaming throughout the galaxy; cruisers, fighters, and basestars.

With the help of your galactic map, you can find the sectors of the galaxy where these fighters are located and then warp there to destroy them.

When all of the fighters in a sector are destroyed, you can warp to a new location for the next battle.

Be sure to keep an eye on your starship's energy level; warping to new locations, being hit by enemy fire, or colliding with an asteroid will drain your energy.

If you completely run out of energy, your starship will be destroyed, however you can warp back to a starbase to refuel at any time.

Returning to a starbase will also repair other types of damage your starship can receive, such as faulty engines, loss of your shields, and faulty photon torpedoes.

When all of the enemy ships have been destroyed, you win the game and receive a rank.

About Sega Saturn

The Sega Saturn (1994/1995) struggled commercially against the PlayStation despite strong 2D capabilities and a library beloved by shoot-'em-up and RPG fans. Its relatively low sales translated directly into low print runs for many games, making the Saturn one of the more expensive retro platforms to collect completely — several titles now sell for hundreds of euros in good condition.

Gamevaro tracks Star Raiders (1979) for Sega Saturn with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding Star Raiders (1979) to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This SAT release dates back to 1979.

No market sales have been tracked yet for Star Raiders (1979) — this could mean it rarely changes hands, or simply that Gamevaro hasn't recorded a sale for it yet. Be the first to add it to your collection.

Condition matters a lot for collector value: loose (cartridge/disc only), complete-in-box (CIB, with original packaging and manual) and factory-sealed copies are tracked separately because the price gap between them can be significant, especially for older releases.
