Though the character's stories are separate, there are times that their paths cross.

Players traverse the countryside, caves, villages and forests to complete their quests, level up, and collect swords (108 total).

Players can utilize three swords at a time, as continual use or strong enemy attacks will break weapons until they have a chance to recover after a battle.

Along the way, Kisuke and Momohime will travel multiple paths to reach various destinations around the game's world (similar to other branching level side-scrollers), find secret areas for special items, forge swords, learn how to cook foods for energy, and fight huge bosses in their personal quests.

The PS Vita version is a port of the Wii game.

It has HD graphics, enhanced button mapping, a redone localization and trophies.

In addition it is extended by four pieces of DLC released afterwards.

Together they form Genroku Legends , a series of stories set in the game's universe.

The pieces of DLC further the storyline, and introduce a new fighting style and bosses.

About Nintendo Wii

Launched in 2006, the Wii's motion controls (Wii Remote) brought casual and non-traditional players into console gaming at a scale no prior system had achieved, making it one of the best-selling consoles ever. Because so many Wii units sold with bundled software like Wii Sports, the bulk of the library is inexpensive to collect — but it also means truly rare Wii titles (often niche Japanese-only releases) stand out sharply from the norm.
