Jungle Wars
Game Boy · 1991
About this game
The Goths, a poaching organisation, suddenly appear in a peaceful jungle where humans and animals coexist, threatening, kidnapping and doing all manner of treacherous things.
Jungle Papa (Papa), the peacekeeper of the jungle, goes out to patrol the jungle with his son, Jungle Boy (Boy), as usual, but falls for the Goths' tricks and is taken prisoner.

Boy escapes in the nick of time thanks to Papa's quick thinking, and sets off on a journey to rescue Papa and restore peace to the jungle.
The scenario moves between the jungle and city, and as well as Boy there are two other members of the party: a wizard girl (Mio) and sort of monkey child (Sasuke).
The gameplay is reminiscent of the Dragon Quest and Momotarō Densetsu series.
There are random enemy encounters and the combat is turn-based with command selection menu.
If the boy's HP reaches zero and he faints, he is defeated, even if the other two party members are combat-ready.
If defeated, the player is sent to the hospital where he last stopped, and half of his gold is confiscated in the name of medical expenses, but his progress in the game is maintained.
You level up when you gain a certain amount of experience.
You can save at any time.
About Game Boy
The original Game Boy (1989) proved that handheld gaming didn't need cutting-edge graphics to succeed — its monochrome screen and legendary battery life, combined with Tetris as a pack-in, made it a cultural phenomenon. Game Boy cartridges are famously durable, so this remains one of the more accessible retro platforms to collect, though translucent color variants and complete-in-box copies with the original brick-sized manual add real value for condition-focused collectors.
Gamevaro tracks Jungle Wars for Game Boy with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Jungle Wars to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This GB release dates back to 1991.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Jungle Wars has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
