About this game

The Adventures of Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun is based on the Belgian comic book of the same name.

The basic plotline is the same: Professor Cuthbert Calculus gets kidnapped and the player, in the role of Tintin, needs to rescue him.

The rest is more loosely adapted: in contrast to the comic, which is mostly based in Peru, this game offers many different locations all over the world.

The gameplay itself is a typical platforming action: Tintin walks through the levels while avoiding the enemies.

Pretty much everyone, e.g. little girls and security guards, is out to hurt Tintin who has no means of defending himself.

This means the most important aspect is learning enemy placements, their patterns and how to avoid them.

But he has to hurry because of the time limit.

Required for success is the usage of the two playing plains: from the player's perspective in the foreground and further towards the background.

Tintin can switch between the two at any time.

About Game Boy

The original Game Boy (1989) proved that handheld gaming didn't need cutting-edge graphics to succeed — its monochrome screen and legendary battery life, combined with Tetris as a pack-in, made it a cultural phenomenon. Game Boy cartridges are famously durable, so this remains one of the more accessible retro platforms to collect, though translucent color variants and complete-in-box copies with the original brick-sized manual add real value for condition-focused collectors.

Gamevaro tracks Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun for Game Boy with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This GB release dates back to 1997.

Market insights

📊
Trading near average
Current price €3.46 is close to the average of €3.42 over the tracked period (range: €3.38€3.46).

Rarity & condition

Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.

Frequently asked questions

How much is Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun worth?

Gamevaro hasn't tracked a market sale for Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun (Game Boy) yet, so no current value is available. Prices are sourced from real marketplace sales, and this page will update automatically once sales data comes in.

Is Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun rare?

Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning it trades hands regularly and isn't considered particularly rare.

What's the difference between loose, CIB and sealed for Tintin: Prisoners of the Sun?

Loose means cartridge or disc only, CIB (complete in box) includes the original box and manual, and sealed means factory-sealed and never opened. These are tracked as separate market values because the price gap between them can be significant, especially for older releases.
