DK, begins to head up to the top of the mountain to find out just what's happening up there...

DK: Jungle Climber is an indirect sequel to the GBA game, DK: King of Swing .

As in that game, players control DK by climbing with his left and right hands.

The L-button makes DK grab with his left hand, and the R-button makes him grab with his right.

Holding onto an object with one hand will make DK swing around it either clockwise or anti-clockwise, while pressing down L and R simultaneously will make him stop in place.

DK can also attack enemies by pressing the A-button spin at them, and can even fly around if he has collected enough gems scattered around the levels.

New to the game is the ability to have Diddy tag along with DK, as he does in Donkey Kong Country .

By pressing A twice when you have Diddy with you, you can launch him high into the air to collect objects you can't get and even access areas that DK simply can't reach.

Diddy can also use special power-ups such as a giant hammer which smashes anything it touches.

About Nintendo DS

The dual-screen, touch-enabled Nintendo DS (2004) became the best-selling handheld of all time, helped by its huge and genre-diverse library. Cartridge-based DS games have held up well physically over 20 years, and complete-in-box copies of the system's biggest sellers (Nintendogs, Pokémon, Mario Kart) remain very accessible for new collectors starting out.

Gamevaro tracks DK: Jungle Climber for Nintendo DS with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding DK: Jungle Climber to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This NDS release dates back to 2007.

Market insights

🌍
NTSC-U is 24% cheaper
The NTSC-U version (€17.83) is significantly cheaper than PAL (€22.03) loose.

Rarity & condition

Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for DK: Jungle Climber, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common Nintendo DS titles.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
