Soma Bringer

About this game
The Swedish game studio Frictional Games continues its tradition in the horror genre ( Amnesia , Penumbra series ) with SOMA .
This time, the player is presented with a science fiction story in which the protagonist, Simon Jarret, is suddenly transported to an abandoned facility the moment he goes through a brain scan.

After surviving a car accident with severe brain injuries as a result, Simon accepts to have his brain scanned with a new, experimental technology.
While he starts the day in his apartment in Toronto, the scan takes him to the mysterious PATHOS-II facility mere hours later.
Much like its predecessors, SOMA's gameplay is built from monster encounters, puzzle solving and the exploration of mysterious game world and plot.
Similar to Amnesia or the last two Penumbra games, Simon is unarmed and every encounter requires the player to avoid direct contact with the hostile creatures of PATHOS-II.
As for the puzzles, Frictional reuses in part the capabilities of its in-house engine, the HPL engine (on its third main version), to manipulate every object in the world as if the mouse were a virtual hand that the player inserts in the game world.
However, this time around puzzles are mainly about interacting with computer terminals, leaving object manipulation more for world exploration.
Since December of 2017, an additional Safe Mode option was added to the game.
This mode allows players to experience the story without the fear of their character dying.
About Nintendo DS
The dual-screen, touch-enabled Nintendo DS (2004) became the best-selling handheld of all time, helped by its huge and genre-diverse library. Cartridge-based DS games have held up well physically over 20 years, and complete-in-box copies of the system's biggest sellers (Nintendogs, Pokémon, Mario Kart) remain very accessible for new collectors starting out.
Gamevaro tracks Soma Bringer for Nintendo DS with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Soma Bringer to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This NDS release dates back to 2008.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Soma Bringer has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
