The three-floor mansion is reputed to be haunted by its eccentric past owner.
Very quickly, you realise that it is.
Warped rats, zombies, and giant worms are among the foes who are after you, and you must somehow escape.
Alone in the Dark is an action-adventure survival horror game.
The action is displayed from a number of fixed viewpoints.
The backgrounds are 2D painted images, while the player character, all items, and monsters are rendered as 3D models.
To escape the mansion, you'll have to solve a number of puzzles.
They usually involve finding an item and using it in a proper place.
Apart from items necessary for the puzzles, you can also find books and documents that can be read, healing items which can be consumed to restore hit points, and weapons.
Weapons come in handy since Derceto is full of various monsters.
Some monsters can be killed with weapons, but others are either impossible to kill or require a bit of thinking to take down.
Note also that you have limited amounts of ammunition, so you have to use firearms carefully.
About Nintendo Switch
Released in 2017, the Nintendo Switch became one of the best-selling consoles of all time thanks to its hybrid handheld/docked design. Its cartridge-based physical format (as opposed to discs) has made complete-in-box collecting popular again, with certain limited print runs and Nintendo-published exclusives already commanding a premium on the secondhand market just a few years after release.
Gamevaro tracks Lonesome Village [Retro Edition] for Nintendo Switch with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Lonesome Village [Retro Edition] to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This NSW release dates back to 2025.

Rarity & condition
Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for Lonesome Village [Retro Edition], suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common Nintendo Switch titles.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
