New content includes a time trials mode and a handful of new equipment sets.
Definitive Edition also includes a brand-new epilogue chapter, Future Connected , which can be accessed at any time independent of progress in the main game.
One year after the events of the original game, Shulk and Melia set off for the imperial city of Alcamoth, of which the latter is crown princess.
However, a malevolent, incorporeal being called the Fog King has appeared in the city from a rift in space-time and driven the residents to the Bionis' Shoulder.
Tensions between the survivors have fractured their community, leaving them with little hope of ever returning to their homeland.
Melia takes it upon herself to reunite her people and retake the capital, and in the process prove her worth as heir to the throne.
Shulk and Melia are joined in their quest by a pair of Nopon named Nene and Kino, children of Riki who wish to follow in their father's footsteps and become heroes.
The party are also able to recruit the Ponspectors, a Nopon survey crew who offer their assistance in battle.
In addition to randomly jumping in to use special skills, the Ponspectors can combine their power to launch an all-out attack against the enemy.
Other mechanics from the main game have been streamlined or removed to better fit the shorter campaign.
About Nintendo Switch
Released in 2017, the Nintendo Switch became one of the best-selling consoles of all time thanks to its hybrid handheld/docked design. Its cartridge-based physical format (as opposed to discs) has made complete-in-box collecting popular again, with certain limited print runs and Nintendo-published exclusives already commanding a premium on the secondhand market just a few years after release.
Gamevaro tracks Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This NSW release dates back to 2020.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
