About this game

Tōya Kumono and his friends Seishirō and Kasumi are fairly average high school students living a normal life, until one day they are suddenly attacked by strange men, and a young woman named Riko appears to assist them.

Riko was an assistant to Kasumi's father, a scientist researching technology to harness supernatural abilities called Augments and Opuses.

Tōya and his companions receive Augments of their own and must now try to stop the mysterious group using these powers for evil.

Devicereign is a Japanese-style adventure game with tactical RPG-style battles.

The bulk of the story proceeds in a visual-novel style, with the player visiting various locations to trigger events and interact with different characters; the story will branch and lead to different situations depending on the player's location and dialogue choices.

Occasionally, battle sequences reminiscent of Tactics Ogre will occur, with the player controlling Tōya and his companions in turn-based isometric combat.

Each character has an action gauge, and each action such as moving, attacking, or using special skills will raise the gauge.

This gauge will continually replenish when no actions are being taken, and the player can pause to issue commands at any time so long as that character has enough time available for the selected action.

Each character has a unique Augment, and can equip various Opuses to unlock different kinds of abilities.

If all characters in the player's party are defeated, the game is over and must be restarted from the last save.

About PlayStation

The original PlayStation (1994) brought CD-based gaming and 3D graphics to the mainstream, ending Nintendo's console dominance of the previous two generations. It's now firmly in "retro collecting" territory: original jewel cases with intact manuals command a real premium over disc-only copies, and several RPGs from its later years (when Sony deliberately courted the genre) are among the most expensive commonly-collected games from the era.

Gamevaro tracks DeviceReign for PlayStation with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding DeviceReign to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS1 release dates back to 1999.

Rarity & condition

Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for DeviceReign, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common PlayStation titles.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.

What's the difference between loose, CIB and sealed for DeviceReign?

Loose means cartridge or disc only, CIB (complete in box) includes the original box and manual, and sealed means factory-sealed and never opened. These are tracked as separate market values because the price gap between them can be significant, especially for older releases.
