Mortal Kombat: Special Forces
PlayStation · 2000
About this game
Mortal Kombat: Special Forces is a spin-off of the Mortal Kombat series of fighting games that deviates from the franchise's known formula much like Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero did with a more story-driven approach, this time in the form of a 3D action-adventure game.
The story follows Mortal Kombat mainstay and Special Forces member Jax as he tries to stop the Black Dragon gang and their criminal leader Kano from retrieving a powerful artifact.

Gameplay involves battling your way through several 3D levels (ending with boss battles), using a mix of hand-to-hand combat and various firearms.
Special Forces also features light puzzle and exploration elements, with the need to find keys to unlock some doors as well as hidden passageways to be found.
This is one of the very few Mortal Kombat games to not incorporate Fatalities, brutal finishing moves that are a staple of the franchise.
About PlayStation
The original PlayStation (1994) brought CD-based gaming and 3D graphics to the mainstream, ending Nintendo's console dominance of the previous two generations. It's now firmly in "retro collecting" territory: original jewel cases with intact manuals command a real premium over disc-only copies, and several RPGs from its later years (when Sony deliberately courted the genre) are among the most expensive commonly-collected games from the era.
Gamevaro tracks Mortal Kombat: Special Forces for PlayStation with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Mortal Kombat: Special Forces to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS1 release dates back to 2000.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Mortal Kombat: Special Forces has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
