A special research laboratory has developed Maken, an ancient weapon that can connect to people's minds and change them.

By using Maken's mental powers, the hero can transform into other characters, and it is up to him to decide which side he will join in the conflict.

This version has updated graphics, and switches the perspective to third-person.

An additional lower difficulty level was added.

Characters can now carry items rather than automatically using them when found.

The new "Image Flare System" allows the player to extract skills from images obtained by the various playable characters, further customizing them.

About PlayStation 2

The PlayStation 2 (2000) is the best-selling game console in history, with a library exceeding 9,000 titles that spans everything from budget shovelware to genre-defining classics. That massive volume means PS2 collecting is accessible and affordable overall, but a handful of low-print-run RPGs and cult titles have become genuinely expensive — a common pattern once a console's original audience grows up with disposable income.

Gamevaro tracks Maken Shao: Demon Sword for PlayStation 2 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding Maken Shao: Demon Sword to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS2 release dates back to 2001.
