It allows players to play through different scenes from the films and follow Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves.
Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain.
Many dangers and adventures await and unexpected discovery of a certain ring.
The game follows in the footsteps of LEGO The Lord of the Rings by ditching the hub world in favor of an open-world setting where the levels are started.
The main gameplay is still based on fighting enemies.
New features include the backpack as an improved inventory, a new buddy mechanic (also improved from LEGO The Lord of the Rings ) and new resource collection in the form of loot.
Similar to The LEGO Movie Videogame players collect different LEGO pieces while destroying the environments which can then be used in building mini-games to progress in the story and solve puzzles.
About PlayStation 3
Released in 2006, the PlayStation 3 had a rocky start thanks to its high launch price but became known for its exclusive franchises and Blu-ray drive, which doubled as an early home theater upgrade for many households. PS3 collecting is still relatively young — most titles are inexpensive — but the console's digital PSN storefront closure risk has pushed more collectors toward physical copies specifically to preserve access.
Gamevaro tracks LEGO The Hobbit [Special Edition] for PlayStation 3 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding LEGO The Hobbit [Special Edition] to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically.

Condition matters a lot for collector value: loose (cartridge/disc only), complete-in-box (CIB, with original packaging and manual) and factory-sealed copies are tracked separately because the price gap between them can be significant, especially for older releases.
