The LEGO Movie Videogame is a third-person action-adventure game based on the 2014 animated film The Lego Movie .

Just like the previous LEGO games by Tt Games it offers a world where the characters are built entirely using LEGO bricks.

For this title all the environments are also made out of LEGO bricks, a first for the series, and LEGO itself is also the primary source material instead of adapting a different franchise to the LEGO style.

The game follows the plot of the film closely and contains fragments from the film as cut-scenes.

It starts with the player controlling the wizard Vitruvius as he attempts to defend his super weapon The Kragle against Lord Business and his robot minions.

He is unsuccessful but tells Lord Business about the prophecy that one day the special one, a master builder, will stand up with the piece of resistance that holds the power to disarm The Kragle.

The game then moves forward more than eight years to the protagonist Emmet Brickowski, an ordinary construction worker who will accidentally find the piece of resistance.

The game retains the basic gameplay from the series where the character can be navigated through a 3D environment and fight or destroy almost anything.

Navigation requires a lot of platform jumping and climbing, and there are many small environment based puzzles sometimes requiring a specific ability.

It is possible and needed to switch between the provided characters (often up to eight in a single level) to have them work together and offline cooperative gameplay is also supported.

Eventually almost one hundred characters can be unlocked including Gandalf, Batman, Superman, Cleopatra and Abraham Lincoln.

Emmet and the female master builder Wildstyle are the most prominent characters, but many more are controlled during the levels.

Entirely new is the introduction of two character types: master builders and regular builders.

As the environments now consist entirely out of LEGO bricks, builders can manipulate them.

About PlayStation 3

Released in 2006, the PlayStation 3 had a rocky start thanks to its high launch price but became known for its exclusive franchises and Blu-ray drive, which doubled as an early home theater upgrade for many households. PS3 collecting is still relatively young — most titles are inexpensive — but the console's digital PSN storefront closure risk has pushed more collectors toward physical copies specifically to preserve access.

Gamevaro tracks The LEGO Movie Videogame [Essentials] for PlayStation 3 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding The LEGO Movie Videogame [Essentials] to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS3 release dates back to 2014.

Rarity & condition

Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for The LEGO Movie Videogame [Essentials], suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common PlayStation 3 titles.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
