The isle of Catan is made up of several hexagons with most hexagons producing a resource such as bricks, wool, and grain.
Players build settlements at the connecting intersections of these hexagons in order to gather the resources they produce.
Players can either trade these resources (with each other or trade them at a port or to the bank if they are looking to acquire a particular resource) or if they have the correct amount of a combination of resources, they can trade them in to build a road, settlement, or city.
These resources can also be traded in for a random development card such as a soldier card, a year of plenty card, and even a victory point card.
The game ends when one of the players reaches the agreed upon victory point total.
Victory points are earned in various ways such as building cities, building the longest road, having the biggest army, and getting the aforementioned victory point card.
Catan lets the player alter several rules such as how many victory points are needed to win the game and whether the dice rolls are decided totally by a random number generator or have them come out closer to their normal odds as they would in reality.
The game also offers three graphically different boards, the Kosmos, Mayfair, and the 3D edition.
There is also an interactive in game tutorial mode to teach new players how to play.
About PlayStation 4
The PlayStation 4 (2013) cemented Sony's dominance of the eighth console generation, with a library exceeding 30,000 titles once indie and digital-only releases are counted. Most PS4 games remain affordable for collectors, but limited physical print runs — particularly from smaller publishers and later in the console's life cycle — are starting to see steady price increases as digital storefronts eventually wind down support.
Gamevaro tracks Catan: Console Edition for PlayStation 4 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Catan: Console Edition to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS4 release dates back to 2024.

Rarity & condition
Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for Catan: Console Edition, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common PlayStation 4 titles.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
