After the king is struck down by an assassin, his heirs set out to explore Castle Hamson, a vast and shifting fortress said to contain the cure to all ailments.
Each time an adventurer falls in battle, a new descendant inherits the mission, venturing into the ever-changing castle to continue the family’s legacy.
This cycle of death and rebirth defines the central loop of the game, where progress is measured not by a single character’s survival but by the cumulative growth of the family over many generations.
Gameplay combines fast-paced combat, platforming, and procedural exploration.
The castle is divided into four main regions, each with unique enemies, hazards, and bosses that must be defeated to access the final area.
Every attempt begins anew with randomly generated rooms, ensuring that no two expeditions are the same.
The player controls a randomly selected heir, each belonging to one of several classes such as knight, mage, or barbarian.
Every class has different attack styles, health and mana ratios, and secondary spells.
In addition, heirs inherit a set of genetic traits that can both help and hinder gameplay, ranging from color blindness and vertigo to near-sightedness or gigantism, introducing humorous and tactical variety to each run.
Gold collected during exploration serves as the primary form of progression.
When an heir dies, all accumulated gold is passed to the next descendant and used to upgrade the family manor.
Constructing new rooms in the manor unlocks permanent improvements such as increased health, access to new classes, blacksmiths, and enchantresses who craft equipment and runes for magical bonuses.
Equipment can be discovered within the castle or purchased between runs, allowing players to customize their
About PlayStation 4
The PlayStation 4 (2013) cemented Sony's dominance of the eighth console generation, with a library exceeding 30,000 titles once indie and digital-only releases are counted. Most PS4 games remain affordable for collectors, but limited physical print runs — particularly from smaller publishers and later in the console's life cycle — are starting to see steady price increases as digital storefronts eventually wind down support.
Gamevaro tracks Rogue Legacy for PlayStation 4 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Rogue Legacy to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS4 release dates back to 2013.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Rogue Legacy has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
