Her goal is to build a successful ranch by raising native creatures called slimes, exploring the surrounding wilderness, and uncovering the secrets of the planet.
From her small homestead, she sets out each day to gather resources, capture slimes, and expand her operation while balancing exploration with ranch management.
Gameplay revolves around collecting and caring for slimes.
Using the “vacpack,” a vacuum-like tool, Beatrix can capture slimes, suck up food items such as fruits, vegetables, and chickens, and transport them back to the ranch.
Corral enclosures can be built to house slimes, while farms and coops provide a steady food supply.
Feeding slimes causes them to produce “plorts,” valuable crystals that serve as the main currency of the game.
Plorts can be sold on the market for money, which is used to expand facilities, upgrade equipment, and unlock new areas of the ranch.
Different slime species possess distinct behaviors, diets, and traits.
Some are harmless and easy to manage, while others can combine into “Largos” that inherit traits from both parents.
If slimes consume incompatible plorts, they transform into hostile “Tarr” creatures that threaten the ranch.
Careful management of food, enclosures, and slime types is necessary to prevent chaos.
Exploration is essential, as new regions provide rare slime breeds, hidden treasures, and natural resources used for upgrades.
The game also includes a progression system tied to exploration and resource management.
Beatrix can upgrade her vacpack to increase storage, energy, and jetpack capabilities, allowing access to new terrain.
Additional ranch expansions can be purchased, such as laboratories for crafting gadgets, silos for storage, and ponds for aquatic slimes.

About PlayStation 4
The PlayStation 4 (2013) cemented Sony's dominance of the eighth console generation, with a library exceeding 30,000 titles once indie and digital-only releases are counted. Most PS4 games remain affordable for collectors, but limited physical print runs — particularly from smaller publishers and later in the console's life cycle — are starting to see steady price increases as digital storefronts eventually wind down support.
Gamevaro tracks Slime Rancher for PlayStation 4 with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Slime Rancher to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS4 release dates back to 2016.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Slime Rancher has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
