In the story mode, the protagonists Jack and Ryu's friend Ling-Ling gets kidnapped by monsters known as jiāngshī.
These demons also seek to recover five ancient scrolls, which contain powerful techniques that will provide them with enormous power.
Jack and Ryu thus head off to save Ling-Ling and recover the five scrolls before the jiāngshī are able to.
The game has strong attacks mapped to the B button, and weak attacks mapped to the Y button.
The player can also hold the X button to store energy and perform a charge attack.
There are many special moves unique to each character which have their own more complex inputs to perform.
There are sixteen playable characters in this game, with two of them being bosses who can be unlocked with a secret code.
Any fighter can be chosen in the circuit or versus modes, but in the story mode only Ryu or Jack can be selected.
In this mode, the player does not start out with any special moves and they must unlock them by collecting the scrolls.
The story mode starts out in a more open ended fashion, with the player being able to select the order they want to collect the scrolls.
However, after the player obtains all the scrolls they must fight the remaining opponents in a fixed order.
There are cutscenes which play following each fight to break up the action.
The player can also select an item to carry with them in between fights, which can perform various benefits such as setting up a trap or recovering health.
About Super Nintendo Entertainment System
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1990/1991) is widely regarded as home to one of the strongest first-party libraries in gaming history, from Super Metroid to Chrono Trigger. It's a mature collecting market: iconic RPGs and late-cycle releases (which typically had smaller print runs as the industry moved toward the next generation) are consistently among the most sought-after and valuable cartridges from the 16-bit era.
Gamevaro tracks Super Chinese Fighter for Super Nintendo Entertainment System with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Super Chinese Fighter to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This SNES release dates back to 1995.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Super Chinese Fighter has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
