It’s a race against time as both the Americans and Soviets search for the missing submarine.
In a series of missions, the player controls a submarine armed with limited torpedoes, sea bombs, SSMs, and SAMs.
Objectives vary from mission to mission, from reaching the end destination, to escorting and protecting a ship.
In some parts of a mission, the game will momentarily switch to periscope mode, with the aim of shooting all naval and airborne enemies on sight.
About Super Nintendo Entertainment System
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1990/1991) is widely regarded as home to one of the strongest first-party libraries in gaming history, from Super Metroid to Chrono Trigger. It's a mature collecting market: iconic RPGs and late-cycle releases (which typically had smaller print runs as the industry moved toward the next generation) are consistently among the most sought-after and valuable cartridges from the 16-bit era.
Gamevaro tracks The Hunt for Red October for Super Nintendo Entertainment System with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding The Hunt for Red October to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This SNES release dates back to 1990.

Rarity & condition
Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for The Hunt for Red October, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common Super Nintendo Entertainment System titles.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
