There is a rumor a legendary treasure is hidden somewhere amidst the ruins of the city.
Who will dare to explore the dangerous region and to uncover the mysteries of the past? There is one who dares - a red-haired swordsman named Adol Christin.
Ys V: Ushinawareta Suna no Miyako Kefin is the fifth installment of the Ys series, and the first one to depart from its trademark "bumping" battle system.
Combat has been somewhat modified to resemble a more traditional action RPG style, requiring the player to actively press a button to execute an attack rather than simply running into enemies.
Adol can fight monsters using melee and magical techniques, and defend himself by pressing a button at the right time.
The ability to jump has also been added, though it is rarely used for platforming purposes.
Magic can be learned by acquiring and combining elemental orbs in the inventory, creating new spells.
Separate experience points are awarded for vanquishing enemies with swords or with magic.
A few months later after the game's initial release, a tweaked expert version was released.
This version included tougher enemies, a time attack mode, as well as a new dungeon to explore.
About Super Nintendo Entertainment System
The Super Nintendo Entertainment System (1990/1991) is widely regarded as home to one of the strongest first-party libraries in gaming history, from Super Metroid to Chrono Trigger. It's a mature collecting market: iconic RPGs and late-cycle releases (which typically had smaller print runs as the industry moved toward the next generation) are consistently among the most sought-after and valuable cartridges from the 16-bit era.
Gamevaro tracks Ys V for Super Nintendo Entertainment System with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding Ys V to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This SNES release dates back to 1995.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
Ys V has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
