About this game

Ice Hockey is an action game for one or two players.

Start of by selecting a team and customizing your players.

Each team member can be one of three player types: small and skinny (very fast, but not good at checking or shooting), very large (slow, but with a strong body check and outstanding shooting strength) or average (medium speed, with average checking and shooting strength).

After the teams are set up, it's time to play some ice hockey! Gameplay features a scrolling screen to follow the action, and lets you choose which of the players you wish to control when on defense (on offense you always control the player with the puck).

Fights can break out between players, and the loser may end up in the penalty box.

There are five different speed settings for the game, and periods can be either 7, 10, or 15 minutes long.

About Nintendo Wii U

The Wii U (2012) was commercially Nintendo's least successful home console, hampered by market confusion over whether the GamePad tablet controller was a new device or a Wii accessory. Its low sales mean smaller overall print runs across the board, and several first-party and indie darlings have already become noticeably pricier than their commercial performance would suggest, since there are simply fewer copies in circulation.

Gamevaro tracks Ice Hockey for Nintendo Wii U with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding Ice Hockey to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This WIU release dates back to 2006.

Rarity & condition

Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for Ice Hockey, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common Nintendo Wii U titles.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
