It is a mixture of a few sports, originally developed by a Australian Cricket Coach who wanted to keep his team fit in the off season.
It is mainly played throughout the state of Victoria but has now gotten a following in other states.
The game includes all the 16 teams, 692 AFL players with stats and 8 of the stadiums.
The game also includes support for the Cameo Eyetoy (PS2 version) that will allow the player to put his/her head into the game on top of one of the players.
Full multiplayer gameplay is supported, using Gamespy for online play, or using the Multi-tap you can have up to 4 players.
The PS2 version also comes with a bonus "100 Years of Australian Football" DVD.
The later released Xbox and PC versions do not contain the DVD, but because of the later release changes from the AFL draft have been implemented, even though the overall team score has not been updated.
About Xbox
Microsoft's original Xbox (2001) marked the company's first console and stood out for its built-in hard drive and Xbox Live service, which laid the groundwork for modern online console gaming. Original Xbox discs are prone to wear, so complete, undamaged copies — especially of the system's more niche or Japan-only titles — are less common than the console's overall sales figures might suggest.
Gamevaro tracks AFL Premiership 2005 for Xbox with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.
Adding AFL Premiership 2005 to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This XBOX release dates back to 2005.

Market insights
Rarity & condition
AFL Premiership 2005 has a steady sales history on the tracked marketplaces, meaning enough copies circulate to establish a reliable market price.
Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.
