About this game

One day at a book shop, a young boy finds an old-looking picture book by the name of "Fantastep" that catches his eye.

He buys the book and takes it home, but upon trying to read it finds that the stories and pictures are all mixed up.

Also in the book are the words "Whoever has the courage to save the world in this book, sign here...", and as soon as the boy writes his name in the book, a ball of light envelops him and he awakens inside the world of the picture book.

Now it's up to the boy to explore this jumbled-up fairy tale land, save the people within and solve their problems, and ultimately return back to his own world.

Fantastep is a point-and-click adventure game with 3D exploration; the player moves around in standard third-person action game style, but at any time can bring up a list of actions (such as examine, take, or talk to) and point at objects or characters to interact with them.

The game world consists of small areas connected via a hand-drawn map of each region.

Depending on the player's choices and actions, the story may branch to one of several different endings.

About PlayStation

The original PlayStation (1994) brought CD-based gaming and 3D graphics to the mainstream, ending Nintendo's console dominance of the previous two generations. It's now firmly in "retro collecting" territory: original jewel cases with intact manuals command a real premium over disc-only copies, and several RPGs from its later years (when Sony deliberately courted the genre) are among the most expensive commonly-collected games from the era.

Gamevaro tracks Fantastep for PlayStation with separate market values for loose, complete-in-box (CIB) and factory-sealed copies, sourced from real eBay sales. Prices also vary by region — PAL, NTSC-U and NTSC-J releases of the same game often sell for different amounts due to print run sizes and regional collector demand.

Adding Fantastep to a Gamevaro collection takes seconds — search by title or scan the box barcode, and the app fills in cover art, release details and current pricing automatically. This PS1 release dates back to 1997.

Rarity & condition

Only a handful of market sales have been tracked for Fantastep, suggesting it doesn't trade hands very often — a sign of relative scarcity compared to more common PlayStation titles.

Complete-in-box (CIB) copies typically command a premium over loose cartridges/discs because the original box and manual are more fragile and get discarded or damaged over time — fewer complete sets survive.

Loose means cartridge or disc only, CIB (complete in box) includes the original box and manual, and sealed means factory-sealed and never opened. These are tracked as separate market values because the price gap between them can be significant, especially for older releases.
